Changes Coming to the ’Hood
The Mission-Bungalow skyline will be changing, and you’ll be able to see it from the Perk’s patio.
On March 19th Calgary City Council approved the Riverwalk Senior Living development on the corner of 5th Street and 25th Avenue SW (across from Safeway).
This 12-story tower will be four times the height of any other surrounding buildings, although the Roxboro House condos are a little taller.
Theres no doubt that densification is coming to the Calgary\’s inner city; this is evidence enough, and the City amended regulations such that other tall buildings can be built at that end of the neighbourhood.
We here at the Purple Perk are all for progress, although were not sure that starting with a building four times the height of its neighbours is the best beginning.
However, there will be 141 seniors suites with only 61 parking spots, so there’s going to be a lot more slow-moving foot traffic coming down 4th Street. Maybe they’ll need some coffee to give them energy, and maybe when we get old and crotchety we\’ll be able to live there too!
